William T. Snipes

William T. “Buddy” SNIPES, 84, of 6693 East 650 North, Talma, died at 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Hospital where he had been a patient for four days. He had been in failing health for three years.
He was born in Floyd County, Ky., to James T. and Elizabeth LEEK SNIPES. He was one of a family of nine children. On March 1, 1928 in Prestonsburg, Ky., he married Cosby Jane OSBORN who died Mar. 19, 1960. On Oct. 28, 1960 in Troy, Ohio, he married Alma DOTSON who survives. He was a retired farmer and had lived in Fulton County since 1943, when he moved from Tippecanoe. He attended the United Baptist Church near Silver Lake.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Bernice) KLINE, Marathon, Fla.; Mrs. John (Catherine) KEELE, Hamilton Township, N.J., and Mrs. William (Joyce) LEWIS, Rochester; four sons, Donald and Arnold [SNIPES], both of Rochester; Ivory [SNIPES], Fort Wayne, and Albert [SNIPES], Warsaw; seventeen grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Junie FAIRCHILD, Christiansburg, Ohio, and two brothers, [Albert SNIPES, Homer, Mich.]; Elbert [SNIPES], Floyd County, Ky. Preceding in death was a daughter Alice [SNIPES], who was a triplet sister to Bernice and Catherine [SNIPES], and two step-sons.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Rodney RUBERG officiting. Burial will be in the Tippecanoe Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
