Clifford M. Johnson, 70, of 842 North Elmira St., Sayre, died Saturday, March 13, 1999 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.
Born Oct. 16, 1928 in Laceyville, Pa., he was the son of Mahlon and Angie Herman Johnson.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was employed by Ajax Foundry in Sayre until he retired due to a disability.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the Sayre American Legion Post No. 283.
He is survived by: three daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnne and John Vargason, Judy and Guy Dewitt, and Bonnie and Tom Wilson, all of Sayre; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Angie Barrett, of Sayre; sisters, Ellen Weckel of Sayre, Eva MacMillan of Tallassee, Ala., Gladys Moon of Horseheads, Thelma Adams of Wytheville, Va., and Lena Wohlschlag of Riverside, Calif.; brothers, Kenneth Johnson of Worcester, Mass., and Arthur Johnson and George Johnson both of Athens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Johnson was predeceased by: a daughter, Virginia Johnson; a son, William Stranger; two sisters, Sylvia Johnson and Beatrice Adams; and three brothers; Jerry Johnson, Asa Johnson and Cecil Johnson.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 S. Main St., Athens.
Funeral and committal services will follow Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Schuster, pastor of the Litchfield United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
