Patricia Ann Thompson Rawls

Patricia Ann Thompson Rawls, 76, of Columbia, died Sunday, July 31. She was a lifelong resident of Marion County and a resident of the Myrtles Nursing Home since 2004. She was born on Aug. 26, 1934 to the late Henry Ed Thompson and Sarah Robertson Thompson. She was raised in the Bunkerhill Community and attended Pearl River Community College, She was married to the late Ben M. Rawls of Columbia. Ann was a secretary, a homemaker and an active volunteer in her community. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, gardening and spending time with her family.
She was an active member of First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the Chancel Choir and was a UMW member. She taught youth Bible study, Sunday School and attended a weekly prayer group for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Ed Thompson and Sarah Robertson Thompson; husband, Ben M. Rawls; and sister, Sue Stephenson.
Survivors include her children, Saradel Rawls Berry of Columbia, Allison Rawls Bullock (Jim) of Columbia and Ben Rawls Jr. (Rachel) of Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren, Frances Rushing (Todd), Sarah Aultman (Dustyn), Hays Berry, Scott Rawls and Ellen Rawls; great-grandchildren, Troy Knight and Macy Knight; sisters, Betty Williamson of Brandon, Rachel Rowely of Columbia and Frances Williamson of Bunkerhill.
