Rufus Sylvester Rogers was born in 1840 in Vermont, the child of Alanson and Arvilla. He lived in Bethel, Vermont on July 1, 1863. He died on April 15, 1908, in Stacy, Minnesota, at the age of 68, and was buried in Minneapolis, Minnesota Lakewood Cemetery. He affiliated with Cataract Masonic Lodge #2 in 1870 hailing from Spring valley Lodge #58 of MN...He was recorded as being a miller- by trade- at time of this affiliation... he was involved in the Civil War with the 16th Regiment of the Vermont Volunteers. He has a S&C symbol on his headstone, at Lakewood cemetery...
