Dorothy L. Clarson, of Nampa, died on January 21, 2012 at the age of 91.
Dorothy was born in Norcatur, Kansas on December 27, 1920, to Frank and Minnie Frewen. She graduated from Norcatur High School and received her R.N. diploma from St. Lukes Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
After receiving her R.N., she joined the Army and served in the Pacific theater during World War II from 1943 to 1945. Lt. Clarson was stationed for much of that time in Espiritu Santo in the New Hebrides Islands.
Dorothy worked as a nurse for many years and earned her B.S. in Education from West Chester University in Pennsylvania in 1963. She was also a member and past president of VFW Post #5118 in Easton, Maryland and was the first woman to hold that post.
Dorothy moved to Idaho in 2008 to be near family and became an active member of her senior community. She thoroughly enjoyed the friends she made here.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert A. Markel Jr., with whom she raised her family of three children; her parents; her sisters, Pat Monteith and Evelyn Sebaugh; her brother, Francis Frewen; and her second husband, Augustus P. Clarson.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Marian Fox (Dennis Ward) and Carol Partain (Thomas); a son, Robert S. Markel (Stephanie); grandchildren, Kristin Howard (William), Erin Partain and Anisa Doyle; step granddaughter, Brenda Pezick (Paul); and five great-grandchildren.
There are no services planned at this time. There will be a memorial service at the Idaho Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of your choice .
