Actor. Born as Hardie Hunter Albrecht in Pennsylvania. Hardie began his acting career at a young age. His parents were traveling vaudevillians and he started his acting at the age of six or seven. He studied drama at Carnegie Tech. He appeared in many Broadway plays. Hardie played the juvenile lead on the stage in The Greeks when a scout from the Fox Company saw him. He was given a contract and headed for Hollywood. Thus making his film debut in 1931 in John G. Blystone's Young Sinners. He appeared in numerous films after that, including as the voice of the adolescent Bambi in the film of the same name. He retired from film acting in 1948 and became a drama instructor at USC, while there he wrote several books on acting and directing. He would return to acting in the 1960's, with guest appearances on television series such as Hazel, Bewitched and Gunsmoke. Hardie was married twice, his first wife Martha Sleeper, whom he shared a daughter with and his second wife Arnita Wallace. He died from congestive heart failure at the age of 71.
