Terry Michael McCarty, 60, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was employed in construction. He loved canoeing, fishing and golfing.
He was born June 17, 1951, in Shelbyville, the son of Alfred and Dorothy Johnson McCarty.
Survivors include his children, Eva McCarty and Mike (Sarah) McCarty II, both of Columbus, and Greg (Christine) Carey of Greenwood; his wife, Jo Ann McCarty; his mother, Dorothy McCarty of Columbus; five grandchildren, Christopher Moon, Steven Penrose, Bethany McCarty and Haley McCarty, all of Columbus, and Alex Carey of Greenwood; and four siblings, Dotty (Jerry) Hill of Columbus, Rosy Moss and Carolyn (Darrel) Burbridge, both of Hope, and Randy (Barb) McCarty of Hartsville.
He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Larry and Jerry McCarty; and two sisters, Sharon Rea and Sherry Coffman.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Norman Funeral Home, 604 Main St., Hope. Calling will be from noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery, west of Clifford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to Mr. McCarty's funeral expenses through the funeral home.
