Our community was shocked when
the sad news reached us of the death of
Oliver Salmon on the 11th inst. Mr.
Salmon was born in Turin, April 18, 1820.
In 1860 he moved to the town of Greig,
near Otter Creek, and on June 25, 1842,
married Miss Julia Wright, of Martinsburg.
She departed this life January 10,
1907. Seven children were born to them,
of whom four are living, Melville, George
and Jerome, of Otter Creek, and Mrs.
Ella Harding, of Watervliet. His funeral
was held at Otter Creek church on the
13th inst., conducted by Rev. John
Strong. He spoke from the text recorded
in Mark 1:15. Interment was made in
Old Glendale cemetery. The deceased
was a kind husband and loving father, a
good neighbor, and the relatives have the
sympathy of the community in their bereavement.
