Richard Alwin Steudle, 76, of Jefferson NH, died September, 11, 2009, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster NH. Mr. Steudle was born in Warren MI on April 16, 1933, the son of Martin and Selma (Miller) Steudle.

He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Warren MI; Adrian College in Adrian MI, where he earned his bachelors degree; and the University of Michigan, earning his masters degree in School Administration. Richard's entire career was devoted to education. He started as a teacher and later high school principle in Clinton MI. He was also the Superintendent of Schools in Capac MI, Charity Hill MI, and Muskegon MI. He received several awards during his Michigan career and was a past president of the Michigan Association of School Administrators and 35-year Rotarian President of the United Way in Muskegon. After moving to New Hampshire he was Superintendent of Schools in Berlin for ten years and was interim superintendent of schools for the Northwoods District in Gorham and White Mountain Regional High School.

For a time he owned and operated the Little House B&B in Jefferson NH. He was a past Board Member and Vice President of the Board for Weeks Medical Center. Richard loved boating on Lake Michigan and Lake St. Clair in Michigan.

Family members include his wife Mary (Oleson) Steudle of Jefferson; children Sue Steudle of Owosso MI, Master Chief James Steudle and wife Mary of Cape May NJ, Lee Dawson and husband Scott of Keller TX, Kristie Westendorf and husband Karl of Boyde TX, Jennifer Green and husband Benjamin of St. Paul MN, Anne Langlois and husband Craig of Gorham NH, and Joshua Poisson and wife Heather of Berlin NH; grandchildren Cory, Clay, Kelly, Savannah, Ridge, Will, Caroline, Jack, Anne, Grace, Finbarr, Julia, Gabriel, Isaac, Ella, Owen J., and Owen C.; first wife Shirley Steudle; brothers Martin Steudle and wife Peggy of Oxford MI, and David Steudle of Warren MI; sisters Helen Decker of Pigeon MI, Alene Klosky of Roseville MI, and Sharon Curd and husband Harvey of Warren MI; and sister-in-law Jean Steudle of Adrian MI.

He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Herbert Steudle, Elsie Prichard, and Louise Hinks.

At Richard's request, there are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 7th Street, Berlin. The Rev. Raymond Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Starr King Cemetery, Jefferson.
