History of Rev. Jacob Hediger

Jacob Hediger was born May 31, 1841 in Reinach, Aargau, Switzerland, educated at St. Chrischona, Switzerland and at Chicago Seminary. He came to America in December 1881. He was instrumental in establishing the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Pender, Nebraska and was pastor there from June 10, 1888 to March 26, 1894.

He then moved to Edmond, Oklahoma where he preached and christened infants in schoolhouses and other small churches. He also christened infants in his home on the farm for the benefit of the Lutheran settlers. He had hopes of establishing a church on his farm. Although he gave land to the church for a church building and cemetery, a church was never built. He also pastored at Perry, Oklahoma. He died August 12, 1932.
