Author. She wrote such books as "Woman's Work," "Justinian and Theodora" (co-written with her husband Elbert Hubbard), and "The Basis of Marriage." She and her husband were among 128 Americans who lost their lives in the sinking of the RMS Lusitania, off the coast of Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland, when it was torpedoed by a German U-boat. Ironically, she was travelling to Europe to cover World War I, with plans to interview Kaiser Wilhelm II.
