"The LaFayette Sun" - December 30, 1914:

Death of Little Child.

On Christmas day, when joy and happiness abounded so free, sadness and sorrow came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Talley, when their little girl, the youngest child, little Naomi, while playing around the grate was burned so horribly that death came to the relief of the little one the day following. The death of the bright jewels in the home is always sad but under such conditions as this is doubly so. The body of little Naomi was carried to Macedonia and there laid to rest, the services being conducted by Elder J. T. Satterwhite. To the father and mother and all who are thus bereaved The Sun offers sincere sympathy and may they find comfort in the thought that there is a bright angel face in Heaven awaiting them.

In Memoriam.

How my heart aches as I begin to pen these few lines in memory of one so sweet to me, "Margaret Naomi Talley". This little treasure was born Nov. 8th, 1911 and died Dec. 26th, 1915, age 3 years, one month and eight days. It seemed so hard to give her up and think, too, of the sad accident that caused her death. While "Mama" was out tending her household duties she walked too near the grate, her little clothes ignited, and before "Mama" reached her, was so badly burned that death followed the next day. She was indeed a bright, sweet child. Fair skin, blue eyes and waxen hair, plump and the very picture of health, was the baby child and the very idol of mother's and father's hearts. Her little tongue was seldom still, was talking or singing, and though so young, her little mind was deep, could remember and sing little songs, spell short words, and memorize her little speech. She was of a sunny, cheerful nature, and wore a loving smile, and though pain wrecked her sweet body, this loving smile was on her face when she lay in her white coffin and was lowered down into "Mother Earth." But now our little darling is no more on earth and we grieve for her, let us remember that she is in Heaven, safe in the arms of Jesus. Though she suffered great pain, all that loving hands of these dear parents, true friends and neighbors, and the aid of physicians could do to relieve her, and to spare her to us in this world was done, but only death was her relief, and now she is at rest. Dear parents, without your darling babe the world indeed seems empty and cheerless to you and in your hearts there is an aching void. The only consolation that is vouchsafed you is the realization that your beloved is at peace. She left mother and father, sweet little brother and sister to mourn, besides a host of near relatives and friends. Her little body was carried to Macedonia and after a comforting prayer and tender words spoken by Elder J. T. Satterwhite, was laid away in the silent tomb to await the resurrection.

Another little lamb has gone
To dwell with Him who gave.
Another little darling babe
Is sheltered in the grave.
God needed one more angel child
Amidst His charming band
And so he bent with loving smile
And clasped our darling's hand.
They hands are clasped upon they breast.
We have kissed they lovely brow,
And in our aching hearts, we know
We have no darling now.
