On December 25, 2011 Pamela Briggs, age 61, of Springfield, OR, lost her battle with cancer and in the process taught us a lesson in strength and character.
There are so many things to say about Pam and her ability to teach by example is among her many virtues. Pam didn't just talk about looking on the bright side, she did it. She looked for the best in everyone and with patience and thoughtfulness showed us that which was essentially good in people.
Born Pamela Teresa Lynch on November 13, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1955, she moved to Sunnyvale, CA with her family.
Leo and Maureen Lynch raised four sons and Pam, their only daughter in a rollicking and welcoming home. Pamela graduated from Lynbrook High School in 1968 and later attended school to become a court reporter. That's where Pam met her future husband, Tom Briggs.
They married in 1977 at the historic Moffett Field Chapel in Sunnyvale, CA.
She is survived by her children: Jeffrey E. Briggs, Kyle T. Briggs, and Laura M. Briggs, all of Springfield, OR, and her cherished granddaughter Jocee. In addition to her children and grandchild, she is survived by brothers: Leo (Becky) Lynch III of Colorado, Dr. Thomas Lynch of Colorado, John Lynch of Oregon, and Brian (Wendy) Lynch of Wisconsin and was loved by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Among her dearest friends, she leaves Natalie Boggs and Julie Timmons.
Pamela was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas E. Briggs, her father, Leo F Lynch Jr., and her mother, Maureen McAndrews Lynch.
After her husband's death in 1990, she moved with her children to Eugene, OR where she attended Lane Community College receiving an Associate's Degree in Computer Network Operations.
Pamela enjoyed reading, playing the piano, traveling, and getting lost in Sudoko puzzles. She loved putting "princess" puzzles together with her granddaughter and the thrill of playing cards with her. She loved spending time with family and friends and just having a good time.
A private Memorial Service and Celebration of Pam's Life will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012. Arrangements by Buell-Andreason.
