Obituary

Nick Pasti, 73, a retired IBM advisory marketing representative who retired in 1976 as an Air Force reserves colonel, died Dec. 29 at his home in Rockville after a heart attack.

He joined International Business Machines Corp. in 1957 and worked for the company in Chicago, Peoria, Ill., and Poughkeepsie, N.Y., before transferring to the Washington area in 1968. He retired in 1984 from offices n Bethesda.

Mr. Pasti was born in Chicago, was commissioned in the Army Air Forces in 1944 and saw duty as a communications officer in both the Pacific and the China-Burma-India theater. He retired from the reserves as assistant director of the capital area's Air Force Intelligence Reserve.

He received a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's degree in math education from Northwestern. He also had attended the Air War College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and held the Air Force Commendation and Meritorious Service medals.

He had served as an usher and member of the board of deacons of the National Presbyterian Church in Washington. He had served on Rockville's Goals Task Force and its Education Commission. He was a member of the Rockville Kiwanis.

His wife, Hilda Hagen Pasti, died in 1981.

Survivors include four children, Sara J. Pasti of Brooklyn, N.Y., Stefan C. Pasti of Kensington, David H. Pasti of Rockville and Carolyn L. Pasti of Gaithersburg; a brother, George, of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and two grandsons.

Friends will be received at Pumphrey's Colonial Funeral Home, Rockville, MD on Tuesday, January 2, and Wednesday, January 3, from 3 to 5 p.m. Services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, January 4, at the National Presbyterian Church, 4101 Nebraska Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20016. Interment Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, National Capital Chapter, 2021 K Street, NW, Suite 100, Washington, DC 20006.
