In the 1900 U.S. Census, widow Martha Armstrong, 63, born March 1837 in Canada, parents born Canada, was living on Lowell Street, Calais, Maine, with dressmaker Bessie, 38, born March 1862 in Maine; and grandchildren Jeanette Gould, 19, born March 1881; Parker, 13, born July, 1886; and Alice Gould, 10, born Feb. 1890, all in Maine.
Three of Martha's five children are still alive.
