Mr Paul Cole Whipp, 74, of Poolesville, died Saturday, July 6 at Washington Adventist Hospital, Takoma Park.

He was the husband of the late Beulah I. Whipp.

Born in Brunswick Aug. 6, 1921, he was the son of the late William and Mamie Cole Whipp.

He served in the U.S. Army, from Aug. 25, 1942, to Aug. 6, 1945, in Africa and Europe where he was awarded the European, African, Middle Eastern medals.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 0104, Gaithersburg.

Surviving are four stepchildren, Sarah Allnutt of Frederick, Lee Smith of Dickerson, Elsie Malone of Boyds and William Smith of Hyattstown; two sisters, Lucille Gesswein of New Jersey and Colleen Wood of Friendship; 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He will also be remembered by a devoted friend, Betty Norris.

He was preceded in death by three stepsons, Donald Howard, Russell Smith and James Smith; two sisters, Marie Daniels and Virginia Daniels; and two brothers, Albert Whipp and Donald Whipp.

Friends may call at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road, Barnesville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 8, where services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9. Interment will be in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. The Rev. Albert Pickerall, Clarksburg Church of God will officiate.
