Helen Leona Prestwich Phillips

Helen Leona Prestwich Phillips passed away December 8, 2011 at the age of 88 from complications incidental to old age. Helen was born October 28, 1923 in Huntington, Utah to William Morley and Myrtle Mabel Madsen Prestwich. She moved to Orem, Utah at the age of 5 and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1941.

She was married to Max F. Phillips on October 26, 1946 in Ogden, Utah and built their home and raised their family there. Max preceded her in death in 1995. Helen and Max enjoyed many years traveling together. Helen was the H.A.F.B. Queen in 1942 (circa), where she worked until 1944 when she went to work at Southern Pacific Railroad for one year and continued her career at the IRS until she retired in 1974. Helen was a member of the LDS Church, Southern Pacific Auxiliary of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen, Southern Pacific Old Timers Club and Royal Green Golf Course. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, camping and the company of her family and many friends. She had many years in her monthly ladies group playing Pokie and just enjoying life.

Helen is survived by her son, Larry Max (Nancy) Phillips of Stockton, California; daughter, Diane Phillips (William) Burwell of Kaysville; and brother, Ronald (Susan) Prestwich of Big Fork, Montana; six grandchildren, Aleisha Ann Weston Knochenhauer, Todd William Weston, Trent Matthew (Beth) Weston, Christopher Allen (Jennifer) Phillips, Sara Jane Phillips (James) Cowan, and Erin Lynn Phillips (Nicholas) Mraz; and six great-grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Knochenhauer, Kamryn and Ryan Phillips, Michael, Joseph and Anthony Cowan, and Luke Nicholas Mraz (soon to be born); and a large number of nieces and nephews. We will miss Helen's sweet spirit and her infectious laugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her siblings, Afton Prestwich, Gwen Prestwich, Stanley (Dottie) Prestwich, Elwood (Geraldine) Prestwich, her twin brother Harold Leone (Colette) Prestwich, and Clifford (Susan) Prestwich.

Funeral services will be held at Monday, December 12, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
