Manassa was a member for the blue in the civil war,he served in the 98IL (Mounted) Infantry and was mustered out in June 1865 and headed towards home in Denver Twp Richland County IL

Manassa first wife Mahaly Riggs Houser died in March 1865 so I can only guess he returned home to find she had passed in his absence,he also lost a daughter Floria Jan 1865,It must have been quite difficult to return to such a loss.

Best I can tell He remained in Richland County till the late 1870's thence he moved to Nebraska..

He remarried and his wifes name was Talithia C Leaser/Leasor

NOTE:There is a difference between records for the date of death....some have it as 1907 some as 1910....I am working on this and hope to have a definative answer soon
