Kennedy, Lyda
Kennedy, Lyda - age 86 of Griffith passed away Tuesday, Nov 1, 1988. Survivors: two daughters, Nellie (Joseph) Baker of Griffith and Martha Kennedy of Hammond; Step-children, Dale (Emma) Kennedy of Griffith, Duane (Ann) Kennedy of Hammond and Fern Bencze of Gary; one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Kennedy of Florida; 17 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters; two sisters, Lenna Gioglio of Virginia and Nellie (Herschel) Sauders of Indiana.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 4, 8:30 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home Chapel with Willis Hatfield officiating. Burial, Wolf River Cemetery, Fremont, Wisconsin. Friends may meet with the family Friday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Kuper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd. (2 blocks south of Ridge Rd.) Highland.
Mrs. Kennedy was a member of the First Christian Church of Griffith; member of the King's Daughters; the Griffith Grandmother's Club; and Griffith Senior Citizens.

Lyda was the daughter of Robert and Clara Eisele Shelton. She was married first to Ora F. Warner on April 2, 1919. Ora passed away in 1934. She worked for a man as his housekeeper, childcare and took care of his terminally ill wife Bonnie. A couple of years after Bonnie passed away Lyda married the man - John Frederick Kennedy. They were married until the day John (grandpa) passed away from lung cancer.
