Maybell was such a good seamstress and sewed most of her own clothes. I remember her making quilts from silk coat lining scraps from a nearby coat factory and make beautiful quilts with them. She would make cookies for us when we were in Georgia visiting her brother-in-law and our cousin, who lived just down the clay road from them. She would sometimes walk over in the afternoon and sit on the front porch rocking chairs to visit with us while we were there. She had a pitcher pump on her back porch and a big sink where she would clean veggies from her garden and wash dishes. I think he shaved from the same sink because I remember a mirror hanging from the wall. There was a outdoor toilet.
