David had a younger brother whose name was Dewey. David and Dewey were raised by their Aunt Clara and Uncle John Thomas Lynn (see FG memorial 7975804 (his father died between 1900 and 1910 in a horsing accident). The boys do not show in the home of John and Clara in 1900, but appear with them in the 1910 census in Kingfisher County, OK. His father's birthplace is listed as Iowa.

He registered for the draft for WWI and WWII, and was exempted due to his right hand, which was severely broken in a railroad mishap. On those documents, he listed his birthplace as Colfax, New Mexico, and in 1942 indicated a Mrs. Rose Smith of Tyro, KS as the person who would always know his mailing address.

His birthday has been listed both as May 3 (WWI registration)and as May 30, 1896 (most other documents).

His grandparents (father's parents) were James Lynn (born in CT) and Melorah Cook (born in NJ). His father's name would have been either Samuel W. or Andrew J. (the only boys in the James Lynn home to have been born in Iowa).

David Lynn married Hattie Gregory Umberger (former wife of George Umberger) and the couple adopted my mother, Evelynn Grace Beebe on 18 November 1940 in Kingfisher County, OK.

Their farm was located in the old township of Lacey, OK at coordinates 36.100985,-98.092429. They lived there until Hattie died in 1972.

If you are reading this and you know who Mrs. Rose Smith is, or you have any other information about my grandfather's, grandmother's, or mother's family, I would SO love to hear from you!
