Mr. Cooke, who formerly was with Leggets Department Stores in Newport News and Hampton, was a native of Newport, Ohio, and a resident of Newport News for 12 years until he moved to Norfolk three years ago. He was the son of the late William and Lola Dean Cooke.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Perrine Cooke; two daughters, Mrs. Priscilla Cooke Greenlees, of Marietts, Ohio, and Miss Lorraine Cooke, of Norfolk; two sons, Stephen D. and George A. Cooke, Jr., both of Norfolk, and two brothers, Eugene W. and Chester D. Cooke, both of Marietta.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
