Mrs. Shaw was raised in New Castle and attended Mount Summit schools. She graduated from Purdue University with degrees in home economics and English. She taught school at Lowell HIgh School, Clarks Hill School, and Jackson Township School. She later worked at the former Loeb's Department Store, and in educational services at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. She was a member of Congress Street United Methodist Church, and was involved in Farm Bureau and home economic organizations. She enjoyed reading, music and crafts.
Surviving are two sons, Perry Shaw of Cullman, AL, and Roger I. Shaw of Lafayette; a daughter, Barbara (Mrs. Kevin) Krumvieda of Knoxville, IA; two brothers, Trevor Perry and Phillip Perry, both of New Castle; two sisters, Wanda Carmack of New Castle and Theo Blaylock of Texas; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
