Avis Marie Ward, 84, of Bear Lake, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at her home. She was born Aug. 22, 1927, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Murdick and Hazel (Polmanteer) Collins.
Avis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Avis is survived by: her children, Martha Cale of Bear Lake, Marlene (Dave) Santa of Bear Lake, and Leon (Noreen) Ward of Brethren; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Ward of Brethren; 26 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Avis was preceded in death by: her husband, Lawrence Alford Ward Sr. in 2007; her sons, Lorence "Duke" Ward, Leonard Ward and LeRoy Ward; two granddaughters, Michelle Ward and LeAnne Lopez; one grandson, Lorence Bowling III; and four brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at the Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva. Interment will be in the Brethren Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
