Mary Nancy Hunter was baptised in the United Brethren faith and was a member of the Oak Glen church in Cass township. Her death came August 3, 1940, caused by complications which developed following a stroke paralysis.

Always frail in body, she was unable to go among the people as much as she would have liked, but instead gave willingly of her money to any worthy cause. She was a patriot and loyal citizen of her community and a true friend to those in need. Above all that can be said she was a true Christian.
