Maxine Hart

V. Maxine Hart "Auntie Mac", age 88, of Tomah, peacefully passed away April 8, 2011, at the Tomah Healthcare Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born Jan. 15, 1923, to Charles and Florence (Sowle) Hart in Tomah. She graduated from Tomah High School in 1940.

Maxine was a faithful employee of Northwest Telephone Company from 1941 until 1983 when she retired. She also worked for many years at the Tomah Public Library during this time as well. Maxine spent several years as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent at the Congregational Church. She loved to read and take pictures. Family was always very important to her.

She is survived by two brothers, Forrest "Stub" (Joy) Hart of Tomah and Donald (Sara) Hart of Oxnard, Calif.; four sisters, Helen Anderson of McFarland, Ruth (Abear) Hart, Marlene Anderson and Delores (Kenneth) Randall, all of Tomah; 25 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Fern; two brothers-in-law, Robert Anderson and Kenneth Anderson; three nephews, James Hart, Donald Hart and Richard Anderson; and a niece, Pamela (Hart) Rezin.

She will be missed by her loving family, friends and staff at the Tomah Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011, 2 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Pastor Edwin Stigen will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation Friday, April 15, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah and again on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements
