On the 18th inst., at the residence of her son, in Boone county, Mrs. Abigail Hawkins, aged 84 years.
She was born, Jan. 15th, 1788 in West Virginia; joined the M. E. Church at the age of thirteen and has lived a life consistent with the principles of that faith expressed in early life, having been a member for seventy-one years, the allotted time for man's life. She moved to Ky., and was married to William Hawkins in 1806, then they moved to Indiana in 1836, and together labored in clearing away the forests, making themselves a home and raising a large family.
Her husband died years ago and she has since lived with her children, passing the evening of her days in quietude. She was the mother of nine children had ?3 grand children and ?3 great grand children. Her remains were brought home and ? in the old cemetery. Rev. T. ?. W???? officiating.
