Mr. Nathaniel "Nat" Ashley Carter of Bickley, GA went to be with the Lord on Thursday (January 19, 2012) in Rockledge, FL.

Mr. Carter was a loving husband to JoAnn Womble Carter for 55 years. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Addison and Rhoda Mae Carter. He was born June 15, 1931 in Bickley and raised attending Bickley United Methodist Church. He later served as an elder at Covenant Christian Church in Douglas, GA.

Mr. Carter proudly served his country in the Military in both the U.S. Army and the Marines. He was founder of the Ware Forest Incorporated. Mr. Carter, who was a Master Tree Farmer award recipient, spent much of his life in the forestry industry helping fellow land owners grow and develop markets for timber.

Some of the hobbies he enjoyed were fishing, farming, hunting and traveling. Those who knew Nat knew he was a man of integrity; passionate about his faith and his family. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Family members in addition to his wife include his son, Thad Carter (wife Charlene) of Douglas, GA; his daughter, Penny Carter Rivera (husband Tony) of Rockledge, FL; two wonderful grandchildren, Nathan and Isabella. Other family members include his brother, Addison Way Carter (wife Mary) of Waycross, GA and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday evening (January 22, 2012) from 6 until 8 at Covenant Christian Church.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday (January 23, 2012) at Covenant Christian Church in Douglas.

Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Waycross.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations to be made to the National Parkinson Foundation (parkinson.org) P.O. Box 5018 Hagertown, MD 21741-5018 or the Thailand Orphanage Fund c/o of Covenant Christian Church 3255 US Highway South, Douglas, GA 31535.
