Funeral services for Robert "Bob" W. Batey, age 88, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, January 21, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Cole Chapel, Denton, Texas, with Pastor Matt Gaston officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Denton. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Mr. Batey passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Jacksonville. He was born January 4, 1924 in Slaton, TX. Mr. Batey served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943-1946 and was retired from the Texas Highway Dept. He was preceded in death by his parents William Hedrick Batey and Eva Hardy Batey, one brother and four sisters. Survivors include daughters Larisa Eubanks and husband Ron of Plano and Elaine McDonald of Jacksonville; son Robert W. Batey, Jr. and wife Leann of Temple; brother Wallace Batey and wife Mary Lou of Denton; sister Evelyn Janice Coulter of Denton; three grandchildren Lacy Matejka and husband Justin of Jacksonville, Vance McDonald and wife Meredith of Jacksonville and Casey Eubanks of Plano; four great-grandchildren Caitlyn, Westin, Zane, and Ramzee Matejka; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be nephews.
