Mr. Woolwine Monsey "Woolie" Waddell, 81, of Happy Choice Farm, Barnesville, died Sunday, May 4, at home.
He was the husband of the late Julia Blankenhorn Waddell.
Born Aug. 29, 1915, in Chatham Hill, Va., he was a son of the late Prentice and Sarah Totten Waddell.
Before his retirement, Mr. Waddell owned Montgomery Vault in Rockville for more than 30 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years, an American Horse Shoe Association judge, past board member of Barnesville School and past director of the Arabian Horse Owners Foundation. He also was a member of the Monocacy Lions Club, the Potomac Hunt, Funeral Directors of Metropolitan Washington, Upper Montgomery County Cotillion and Montgomery County Cotillion. He was also a breeder of Arabian horses and short horned cattle.
Surviving are a daughter, Wilhelmina Waddell Winkler and husband Thomas R. of Frederick; a brother, C.P. Waddell of Pennsylvania, and two grandchildren, Tyler T. Winkler and wife Leah of Ellicott City, and Travis W. Winkler of North Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the Hilton Funeral home, 22111 Beallsville. Funeral services will begin there at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 7. Burial will be in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. Donations may made to a charity of one's choice.
NOTE: named for Dr. Woolwine and Dr. Wolsey who took care of his mother at his birth!
