Mrs. Julia Blankenhorn Waddell, 87, of "Happy Choice Farm" in Barnesville, died Sunday, Nov. 6, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville.
Born in Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late John and Barbara Marty Blankenhorn.
Married in 1938, she was the wife of Woolie M. Waddell.
Before her retirement, she was a registered nurse at Chestnut Lodge in Rockville. She was a member of the Rockville Eastern Star for more than 50 years. She was active with the Arabian Horse World, Blue Ridge Riding Club, Upper Montgomery and Montgomery Cotillion, the Republican Womens Club and Great Books.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are one daughter, Wilhelmina Waddell Winkler and her husband Tom of Frederick; and two grandsons, Tyler T. Winkler and wife Leah of Ellicott City, and Travis W. Winkler of Frederick.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, one of them her twin Jennie Blankenhorn, and two brothers.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road in Barnesville. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the funeral home. The Rev. Bob Manthey will officiate. Interment will be in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to a charity of one's choice.
