Elizabeth Sherrill, a resident of Baltimore, MD, was 1st married to William McDaniel (d. c1783) and 2nd James Abercrombie, Jr. (1740-1819).

In 1783 James and Elizabeth Abercrombie were named administrators of the estate of William McDonald [should be McDaniel] in Abbeville County, South Carolina probate records. On 09 February 1785 the South Carolina State Gazette and Daily Advertiser ran an ad for the estate of "William McDonial," placed by his administrators, James and Elizabeth Abercrombie, who were "in Ninety-Six District."

Elizabeth (Sherrill) McDaniel the widow of William McDaniel had a least one son, Archibald McDaniel, Jr. with him: James Abercrombie, Jr.'s Will was signed 29 Nov. 1819 and recorded in Laurens Dist., SC Will Book "E," P. 56. Will names stepson, Archibald McDaniel, Junr., & gives him 12 acres.

A note in the Laurens County, SC cemetery survey for the McDaniel-Dial Burying Ground, Pg. 69: "According to Mr George Troy Jones, of Laurens Co SC, also buried here are James Abercrombie Jr and Hastings Dial and their wives. Hastings Dial's wife was Rebecca Abercrombie Dial".
