A Lewis County veteran of World War I has gone on his last bivouac.

Ben Elliott, 77, died at 12:15 a.m. at his home in Garrison. Cause of his death has not been announced, but it is known his health had been failing for some time.

Mr. Elliott was a retired farmer. He was held in high regard by a wide circle of friends.

The deceased was born August 28, 1887 in Elliott County, son of the late Elie and Martha Stevenson Elliott, but he had lived much of his life in Lewis County.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son.

Mr. Elliott is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Weddington Elliott, and two sisters, Mrs. Gordon Peal, Ontario, Canada, and Miss Linna Elliott of New Brighton, Pennsylvania. Also he leaves nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Garrison church of Christ, with Walter Gilpin officiating. Burial will be made in Lewis County Memory Gardens. Rites will be conducted by Dickerson Funeral Home, where friends may now call.
