Funeral services were held Monday in South Bend for Claudius B Nettrouer, who died Thursday in Osteopathic Hospital after a 10-day illness.

Rites were conducted by the Rev Walter Mangun of Plymouth and Rev Robert Estes of Mishawaka at Christ Temple, where he was a member. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.

Mr Nettrouer was born in East Lewiston, O, May 4, 1874, and moved to South Bend in 1956 from Wakarusa, where he had lived for 54 years. The Nettrouer home was on N Elkhart st, where he also had a monument business.

He married Emma J Bixler on Nov 5, 1902. She died Sept 17, 1943.

On July 5, 1945, in St Joseph County he married Miss Clara Birk, who survives.

Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs Grace Gruza, Mrs Elma Lynn and Mrs Clara Howell, all of South Bend, Mrs Beulah Confell of Bremen, and Mrs Grace Ciskowski of Austin, Tex; four sons, Wilber J of Bremen, Glen of Mishawaka, Earl of California, and Ray of Denver; 24 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs Della Beyler, Mrs Laura Schott and Mrs Jurisa Garwood, all of South Bend.

Edward Nettrouer, son of Daniel Nettrouer & his wife Anna Mary (aka Mary Ann) Yeakly Nettrouer

Edward Nettrouer was born in Mahoning Co, Ohio, April 18, 1845 and died at the Epworth hospital in South Bend, March 30, 1915, aged 69 years, 11 mos, and 12 days.

He came to Indiana at the age of twenty one and in 1868 he was united in marriage to Barbara E Brenneman of St Joseph county, Ind.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Claudius and Andrew of near Lakeville, Ind; six daughters, Mrs Lillie Overhalt, Mrs Martha Anthony, Mrs Della Beyler of Lakeville; Mrs Jerusa Garwood, Sarah Nettrouer of South Bend and Laura E Nettrouer; fourteen grand children; two brothers, John of Columbiana, Ohio and Amos of Newton, Kans; three sisters, Mrs Maggie Moyer and Mrs Lovina Metzler of Columbiana and Mrs Jerusa Wilson of Kilbuck, Ohio.

He united with the M B C church in January, 1876, and was a trustee of that church. He always proved himself trustworthy and faithful.

The funeral services were held at West Union church, seven miles south of South Bend, April 2, 1915, conducted by A B Yoder and C K Curtis.
