Reuben married Sarah "Sally" Fredarick [nee: Allison] on 10 Apr 1856 in Coles County, Illinois. Samuel Scott, Esq. officiated the ceremony. At the time Reuben registered for the Civil War: Union Draft in 1863, he lived in Coles County, IL. In 1870, the family lived in Cumberland County, Illinois. They moved to Chase County, Kansas about 1878.
According to the Cherokee Census, Reuben and his family arrived in the Indian Territory in March 1890. There were 3 persons in the household. He was employed by Amos Smith. His property included 4 head of horses, 2 cows, and 3 head of hogs.
Rueben died Tuesday night, 25 Feb 1902, aged about 65 years. Burial was in the G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami, Oklahoma, on Thursday, February 27th.
He was survived by his wife, Sarah; four sons, James H. Larkins, George W. Larkins, Christopher C. Larkins, and William E. Larkins; and one daughter, Sarah Larkins Taylor.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Larkins in 1863 and Noah M. Larkins in 1900; and one stepson, John T. Fredrick in 1883.
