Pioneer and Wealthy Slope Resident With Many Interests -
Leadville, Colo, May 28, (AP)- Frank Zaitz, 67, once called a millionaire, died today after an illness of two weeks.
He was president of Zaitz Mercantile company and had been a resident of Leadville 50 years.
He was a director of the First National Bank of Glenwood Springs and was president of the St. Louis Gold Mining company of Leadville. He also had coal mining interest in Grand Valley.
Born in the Austrian province of Solvenia, he came to Leadville as a poor emigrant boy and obtained a job in the Arkansas Valley smelter.
He gradually built up a mercantile business from a corner grocery store and fortunate investments swelled his fortune until he was rated a millionaire.
