Virginia Gibson, 86, of Danville, died at 5:45 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 1, 2004) at SunBridge Care and Rehab for Danville.

Funeral services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Pape's Mortuary, 10 E. Williams, Danville; Officiating: Pastor Allen Rudie; Visitation: noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Pape's; Burial: Georgetown Cemetery.

Virginia was born Oct. 7, 1917, in Westville to Thomas and Mary Shaw Hall. She married Harry Kendall Gibson on Nov. 9, 1941, in St. Charles, Mo. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include stepdaughters, Shirley (Wilbur) Cox of Danville, Jean (Bob) Gorham of Oakwood and Harriett (Bob) Adams of Danville; one brother, Elmer (Mary) Hall of St. John, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Rose Hall of Highland, Ind.; a special niece, Velva Nelson of Beaufort, S.C.; several nieces and nephews, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Virginia was preceded in death by an infant son, Harry Wayne Gibson; two grandsons, Jeff Cox and Bruce Leach, three sisters and seven brothers.

She attended Westville schools. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Women of the Moose. She was an avid bowler, a Cardinal baseball fan and enjoyed mushroom hunting.
