Anna arrived in Prince George by train from Texas with her parents on 13 July 1914 and went to work as a housekeeper and looking after two little children. A year later she married and went on to have her own four children. (After her mother was hospitalized in 1920, Anna also raised for her youngest sister Alice, who been born 17 March 1919).

Anna was instrumental in the formation of Zion Lutheran Church in the mid-1920's. She was one of the first two adult confirmands on 18 July 1926. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid during that time. Between 1926 & 1988 she helped in the building/renovating of at least four church buildings.

Many people remember enjoying Anna's cooking and baking. Danish apple cake with whipped cream was always a favourite dessert. Her dinner rolls ("grandma buns") were in high demand. The hospital also benefited from her cooking as she worked there (after she was widowed) from 1950 until she retired in 1963.

She lived the last years of her life in the Jubilee Lodge care facility.

Her obituary published Tuesday 13 April 1993 in The Prince George Citizen (Page 19) reads as follows: Andersen - Anna May, late of Jubilee Lodge, born January 28, 1898, quietly gone to her Lord, April 9, 1993. She was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1949, daughter Agnes in 1956, and son John in 1986. Anna is survived by her son Ivan (Helen), daughter, Marie, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; also survived by her brothers Stenner (Edna) Johnson, Ole (Lucy) Johnson, and a sister Alice (Ken) Campbell. Anna was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid for 70 years. she turned the first shovel of earth of the new Zion Lutheran Church April 3, 1988. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 13, 1993 at 2 pm, from Zion Lutheran Church, 180 S. Tabor Blvd, with Pastor James Heinbuch officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Jubilee Lodge or Zion Lutheran Church would be appreciated. Interment Prince George Cemetery. Assman Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements."
