Geraldine (Jerry) Brandon Thomsen, age 91 of Payson passed away peacefully Sunday morning, January 15, 2012 at Mountain View Hospital and is now reunited with her loving husband Bill after being apart for nearly 10 years.

She was born November 8, 1920 in Payson, Utah, the daughter of Ingwald I. Brandon and Emma Andreason. She married Billy K. Thomsen September 25, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA. Their marriage was solemnized September 29, 1962 in the Manti Temple.

Jerry attended school at Peteetneet in Payson and graduated from Payson High School in 1939. She worked for Duke Page Auto during high school and at Remington Arms in Salt Lake City prior to moving to southern California after she married Bill. They lived in California for three years during WWII while Bill was in the Navy where she worked repairing airplanes during the war. After the war ended, they moved back to Utah and shortly thereafter built their first home in Payson where they lived until 1969 when they built a new home next door to their first one. Jerry lived in Payson for the majority of her life and didn't want to live anywhere else but her home in Payson. That is where she was truly most comfortable and happy.

She loved her career as a book keeper for Woolworths in Provo and later for McNally Mountain States Steel. She retired in 1985. She always loved math and dealing with numbers, especially when it involved financial matters. She had to keep her checkbook balanced to the penny at all times. She was so good at book keeping that when the Payson 1st Ward did an addition back in the 60s, they had her keep all of the financial records for that addition/remodel project.

Jerry diligently cared for Bill during the 21 years he lived after suffering a stroke in 1981 that forced him to retire from Geneva Steel. In 1985, they bought a small condo in St George where Bill wanted to spend each winter because it was warmer and easier for him. Jerry didn't really like to go to St George because she'd rather be in Payson, but she'd move them down each November or December and back in March or April depending on the weather.

She loved to dance. That was her passion in her youth. During her youth & young adulthood, she attended many dances at school, at Arrowhead and at Saltair. She and Bill even taught dance classes in their Ward back in the early 60s. Dancing with Bill and playing bridge with her girl friends were probably the two most enjoyable past times for her and she enjoyed both during her entire life.

Survivors include: her son, Jeff (Carol) Thomsen, Sandy; four grandchildren, Brent (Amy) Thomsen, South Jordan; Jill (Michael) Wade, Draper; Chad (Camie) Thomsen, Herriman; Diana Thomsen, Sandy; seven great grandchildren, Zac Thomsen (11), Owen Thomsen (8), Avery Thomsen (5), Lexi Wade (5), Cameron Wade (3), Cody Thomsen (2) and Gracie Thomsen (2); two brothers, Richard (Dick) Brandon and Ronald Brandon. She was preceded in death by: her husband, her parents, a sister, Thelma and a brother, Curt.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM, in the Mtn. View Stake Center, 75 South 600 East, Payson. Friends and family may visit Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Wednesday, January 18, 6-8:00 PM or at the church Thursday, 9:45-10:45 AM. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
