Byron V. Molstedt, a retired chemical engineer with Exxon Research and Development and a resident of Baton Rouge, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 1997, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
He was 82 and a native of Fort Dodge, Iowa.
He was an award-winning actor with the Baton Rouge Little Theater.
Visiting in the parlor at First Presbyterian Church, 763 North Boulevard, noon until religious services at 2 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Russ Stevenson and the Rev. Roger Greene.

Survived by wife, Barbara Molstedt, Baton Rouge; a daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Burton Frierson, Stevenson, Ala.; a stepson, Robert Chaney, Baton Rouge; a sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and W.A. Taft, Maine and Antigua; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Mary Ellen Webster, Mount View, Calif., and Robert O. and Marjorie Bailey, Chico, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Jennifer Packer, Andrea and John Bennett.
Preceded in death by parents, Andrew and Emma Molstedt; and first wife, Ruth.
Pallbearers will be Rick Beaubien, James Wood, James Webster, Dewey Carpenter, Fred Gowdy and Bob Waghorne. Honorary pallbearer is Herc Cunningham.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Screen Actors Guild and B and B Lunch Club.
He received a bachelor's of science degree in chemical engineering from Iowa State University.
