COURIER-JOURNAL OBITUARY - 01/18/2012 - CARTER, Reba F. 89, a native of South Louisville, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Floyd Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, John C. Carter and sons, Winston and Larry Payne. She is survived by her sons, Rollin Payne (Minnie) of Salem, IN and Charles Payne (Alma) of Arkansas; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law and caregiver, Martha Mull. Her funeral will be held Saturday 1 p.m. at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son, 7336 Southside Dr. with burial in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation 2-8 p.m. Friday. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Reba was the daughter of James Charles Fore and Dona Ellen (Bowling) Fore. She was born in Whitley County Kentucky. She had one sister, Orena, who also preceded her in death.
She married George Edward Payne on March 21, 1939. They had 3 sons together. I do not know the date of their divorce. Reba had another son who is buried next to her, Larry Wayne. She remarried John C Carter.
