Vera Ann Ramey, 90 of 403 N. Rainbow Dr., Clare, died Wednesday, February 25 at the dare Osteopathic Hospital, following a long illness.
She was born the daughter of Charles and Margaret Chappie on January 7,1886 in Ontario, Canada.
Vera moved to Michigan as a young child. She was united in marriage to Ernest Ramey in 1905 in Clare. Born to this union were 4 children, Vera had been employed at Bicknell’s Dept, Store for 20 years. Her husband Ernest and son Donald preceded her in death.
She was a life time member of Zenobia Chapter No. 129 Order of the Eastern Star, also, a lifetime affiliate of the Clare United Methodist Church
Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Roy (Mildred) Dawson, Detroit; Mrs, Ralph (Doris) Ackerman, Clare; 1 son, Robert Ramey, Mt. Pleasant; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Laura Myers, Grand Rapids.
Memorial services were held under the auspices of Zenobia Chapter No, 129 Order of the Eastern Star on Thursday, February 26 at 8 p.m.
Funeral services were held from the Chapel of Brokering Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m, on Friday, February 27 with Rev. C. William Martin of the Clare United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Cherry Grove Cemetery. Clare Sentinel dated 3 March 1976 (Thanks, Tom, for this obituary!)
