NANCY LOUISE KOVALA BENNETT CUTLER, age 61, of Powers, MI was called to her eternal home on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility, Powers, MI. She was born in Detroit, MI on August 31, 1950 the daughter of Elmer and Roberta (Stonehouse) Kovala. Nancy graduated from high school in Livonia in 1968. She then attended the University of Michigan and graduated in 1970 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Nancy married Rex Bennett, Jr. and they moved to Kalamazoo, MI where they raised their two children, Tracy and Rex. She continued her career as an LPN at Borgess Hospital and K-Valley Orthopedics in Kalamazoo while raising her family. In 2000, Nancy married Michael Cutler. She continued to work in the Kalamazoo area until she was struck with an unfortunate illness in 2006. She subsequently moved to Powers, MI in order to be near her family. Nancy enjoyed traveling, crafting, shopping, and ice cream. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Nancy will be missed dearly.


Nancy is survived by her children Tracy and Rex, step children Kelli and Kevin, three grandchildren Tyler, Hayden, and Cody, seven step-grandchildren Micah, Maelea, Maggie, Malachi, Anna, Lilah, and Brady, her mother Roberta Kovala of Powers, brother Gary Kovala of Powers, sisters Karen (Mike) Dupras of Wilson, MI, Laura Kovala (Bob Neumann) of Ripley, MI, and Jane (Pierre) LaPlante of Watton, MI. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Elmer, and her brother Kendall.

Funeral services for Nancy will be held at 1 pm, Thursday, January 19, 2012 from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with Pastor Jerry Bishop officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Covington Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Following the funeral service, the family invites friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral chapel.
