Barbara was born February 12, 1928 in Parsons, Kansas the daughter of John H. and Frances (LaLoge) Carter.
She married John Edward Kinney, he preceded her in death, she later married Leo A. Slapczynski, he preceded her in death on September 28, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Norma Treloggen, and one grandson David Lee Carl.
She is survived by her children, Michelle Quinn, Janet Kinney, Brenda Morgan, Shannon Frayer, and Matthew Kinney, her sister, Peggy McCormick, 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Barbara graduated from Kansas City Community College in 1973, receiving the Riley Scholarship and the American Heart Association Critical Care Scholarship. She worked at St. John Hospital and Cushing Hospital, 8 1⁄2 years at the Lansing Correctional Facility, Lansing, KS and 8 1⁄2 years as a special education nurse for Leavenworth Co-operative.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Leavenworth, Kansas.
Family will receive friends 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. Friday January 20, 2012 at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Follow by graveside service at 12:30 P.M. at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Memorial contributions may be given to The American Cancer Society, St. Vincent Clinic or LAWS.
