Dr. McNair, a native of Kitchens Mill, was a retired physician and an Army Medical Corps veteran of World War II, where he served as a captain. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he had been an elder. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston. He was named 1987 physician of the year and had been a member of Aiken County Medical Society and Rotary Club.
