Columbus F. Shannon was the second of eight children born to Samuel Hill Shannon and Mary
Boswell Shannon. He married Tornette A. (Nettie) Hancock on 29 May 1911 in Lauderdale County, MS and they were the parents of 6 children.
Columbus F. Shannon served in the CSA Regt. Co. G, 6th Miss. Calvary. He served in the same unit as his father Samuel H. Shannon, who was a Captain in that unit.

application for Confederate Pension in Lauderdale County, Miss on 20 July 1916. He had died "5 years ago at
Toomsuba, Miss".
She was 67 years old, address 901 28th Avenue, Meridian, Miss.
He enlisted Fall 1863 in Lauderdale County, Miss.
Regt: Co. G, 6th Miss. Cavalry
Discharged 1865 at Gainesville, Ala.
Officers: Isom J. Harris, E. H. Reynolds
Witnesses: S. H. Shannon (his father), Mrs. W. A. Thompson.
Misc: Lives with children. Has 4 sons and 3 daughters.

Columbus F. Shannon died 29 May 1911. He was a
member of Lodge #130, Alamutcha/Toomsuba, Lauderdale
