Hoy on December 27, 1887 in Tokyo, Japan. They had six children: Carl W Witmer Hoy [stillborn], William Edwin Hoy Jr., Gertrude Blanche Hoy , Mabel Ruth (Hoy ) Kaier, David Schneder Hoy and Charles McCauley Hoy. Her two daughters also were missionaries in China. Mary was forced to flee China in the 1930s but returned.
Mary Hoy was active as a teacher and founded several schools. She died in Hankow, Hunan, China.
