Sam G. Moore Sr., 78, of Rt. 1, died Monday morning in a Lake City hospital after a short illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. at Brockington Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lake City Memorial Park.

Mr. Moore was born in Moore's Crossroads Community of Williamsburg County, a son of the late Benjamin Warren and Liza McKenzie Moore. He was educated in the schools of Williamsburg County and Porter Military Academy in Charleston. He was a retired farmer and skating rink operator and was a member of Bergamos United Methodist Church. He served in the Navy during WWI.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elma Godwin Moore; a son, Sam G. Moore Jr. of Lake City; five daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Perkins of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Melton (Lib) Nexsen of Kingstree, Mrs. Fred (Mary) Brock of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Lloyd (Billie) Fike of Knox, Pa. and Mrs. Raymond (Gladys) Penters of Hemingway; two brothers, D. W. Moore of Pee Dee and Ernest G. Moore Sr. of Claussen; two sisters, Mrs. J. J. (Minnie) Scurry of Georgetown, and Mrs. Virgil (Lucille) Eaddy of Johnsonville; 14 grandchildren and two great grand-children.
