William E. Simants, age 84 of Munster, IN formerly of Whiting, IN passed away on Monday, January 16, 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anna; sons: Robert and James Simants; daughters: Kathleen (Thomas) Gannon and Susan (Robert) Ziganto; grandchildren: Amber and Billy; brother, Carl (Caroline) Simants; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents: Ernest and Alma Simants; son, David Simants; sisters: Carolyn and Bonnie; brothers: Charles and John. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 3:00-8:00 PM with a prayer service at 3:30 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Friday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas More Church, Munster, IN. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Bill was born in North Platte, NE, and spent his childhood in Colorado and Nebraska. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from Standard Forge and Inland Steel. He was the owner and operator of JK Wars as well as Simants Heating and Air Conditioning. He loved to sit outside on his deck with nature, God, his wife and his dogs, Mandy and Molly. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
