Leila Dowding Sherman, 96, formerly of Toomey-Abbott Apartments,
died Thursday at Community General Hospital.
Mrs. Sherman was born in Homer and resided in Syracuse
since 1918. She was a seamstress for the Addis Co. for 30 years.
She was the widow of Walter L. Dowding and Warren P. Sherman.
Mrs. Sherman was a communicant of St. Paul's Cathedral.
She is survived by a son, Harold L. Dowding of Ruskin, Fla.;
two daughters, Grace E. Young of Syracuse and Pauline Davies of Central Square; a sister, Bertha Bell of Cortland; 27 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Frasier-Shepardson Funeral Home,
the Rev. R.W. Yoonkin officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Contributions may be made to St. Paul's Cathedral.
